Joseph Elliott Carinder, Jr., 51-year-old Nowata resident, passed away at 3:28a.m., Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. Funeral services for Mr. Carinder will be held at 2:00p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2006 at the Living Word Family Church with Pastor Jim Winslow officiating. Interment will follow in the Peru Cemetery in Peru, Kansas. Services are under the direction of the Benjamin Funeral Home of Nowata. Joseph Elliott Carinder, Jr. was born May 26, 1954 in Caney, Kansas to Joseph Elliott Carinder and Phyllis Brooks-Carinder. Mr. Carinder attended school in Caney, Kansas. He was a warm-hearted man who loved his work as a caregiver to the mentally handicapped. Mr. Carinder will be remembered as a very giving man who also enjoyed visiting with people both in person and on his CB radio. He also spent a great deal of his spare time hunting and fishing. In 1988, Mr. Carinder married Linda Sue Castetter in Miami, Oklahoma; she survives of the home. Additional survivors include two sons, Dustin of Cedar Vale and David of Coffeyville; a granddaughter, Renee' Dawn; a sister, Susan Epperson; two nephews, John and Phillip Shepard; and one niece, Kristin Reed.
