Joseph Engstrom

Joseph O. Engstrom, passed away at the Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove, OK, on Monday, May 13, 2013 at the age of 75. Joseph was born January 24, 1938 in Peoria, IL, the son of late Leroy Andrew Engstrom and Annabelle (Metroff) Engstrom. Joseph grew up in Peoria, IL where he graduated from high school in 1955. After high school, Joseph enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served in the Vietnam War. After the war he stayed in the military making a career out of it. He retired from the military after 23 years of service and a rank of Master Sergeant. Joseph retired in the Philippines until moving to the Grove area in 1991. He married Susan Fernandez on December 14, 1995 in Miami, OK. Joseph worked at the Grove General hospital for 10 years as a Ward Clerk. He enjoyed Golf, fishing, crossword puzzles, dominos, reading books and playing Yahtzee. Most of all Joseph loved to be around his family and friends especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Susan of the home; six children: Bobby Engstrom and wife Karen of Alabama, Leroy Engstrom and his wife Rona of New Mexico, Leanne Zavala of California, Suzanne Engstrom of Grove, Donna Engstrom of Texas, and Denise Engstrom of Washington; grandchildren: Kyra, Mathias, Alexis Nicole, Alexia, Vanessa, Steve, Jacquelyne, Daniel, Juan Carlos, Jr., Kevin, and Michael; great grandchildren Damien, Mariah, Kevin, Jr., and Cristian; one sister; and a host of other relatives and friends. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 10AM with Rev. Alex Kennedy, Celebrant. Cremation will follow the Mass. The family will greet friends from 6PM to 8PM at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK on Thursday, May 16, 2013. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK.
