Joseph Salyer

Joseph Lee Salyer, age 61, died on Thursday May 13, 2010 surrounded by his family and friends at his residence in Grove, Oklahoma. Joseph the son of Farrel and Joann (Sherwood) Salyer was born on October 22, 1948 in Monahans, Texas. Joseph proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was united in marriage to Rhonda Willingham in 1988. Joe worked processing natural gas for power plants, retiring from OG&E / Enogex. Joe was very proud to be part of the Emergency Management department for Delaware County. Joe also was a police volunteer, lake and river patrolman for Bull Head City, Arizona, and volunteered with the sheriff's department in Lake Isabella, California. He was a member of the Grove Moose Lodge, loved watching old westerns, did some leather work, and enjoyed boating on Grand Lake and just spending time with his wife and grandchildren. Joe is preceded in death by his two sisters, Floreta Denine Salyer, and Sharon Salyer-Brown. Joe is survived by his wife Rhonda Salyer, his parents, Farrel & Connie Salyer, three sons Eddie Bilbrey, Jeff Salyer Sr., Joe Salyer Jr., one daughter Nikki Bilbrey-Huggins, sixteen grandchildren, four brothers Jerry Salyer, Duane Salyer, Steve Salyer, Lance Reeser, two sisters Denine Salyer and Lisa Zobrist, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 17, 2010 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home with Pastor Carol Holden officiating. Proudly serving as casket bearers will be Eddie Bilbrey, Jeff Salyer, Joey Salyer, Blaze Bilbrey, Steve Puckett and Jerry Miller. Honorary bearers will be the Emergency Management Staff. Interment will be held at the Olympus North Cemetery in Grove, Oklahoma. Memorial donations can be made in Joe's name to the Delaware County Emergency Management Department.
