Luginbuel Funeral Home, Vinita, OK (918) 256-5555......Josephine "Rickey" Lou Powell passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Josephine was born December 11, 1957 in Clinton, Missouri the daughter of Marvin Ray Rickey and Nellie Jane (Davis) Rickey.
Josephine and her family lived in many different states including Louisiana, Missouri, California and Arizona until moving back to Oklahoma in 2002. She married James Francis Powell on April 23, 1990 in Lakemont, Oklahoma. Josephine was a member of the First Christian Church in Afton, OK. She enjoyed taking care of numerous children most whom looked up to her as their second mother. She also enjoyed singing, dancing, writing music, painting and tending to her flowers.
Josephine is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Survivors include, daughters Tonya Powell of Afton, OK, Kimberly Keene of Miami, OK; sons Donald Carter of Fairland, OK, James Powell of Kansas; five grandchildren Manuel, Isabelle, Brandon, Zachery, Dartanyon; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the Ketchum Cemetery with Pastor Todd Wieneke officiating.
