Luginbuel Funeral Home Vinita, Oklahoma - Kathy left our world suddenly in the early morning hours on Monday November 19th in Big Cabin Oklahoma. She was driving to work in nearby Bartlesville where she and her husband Steve had recently moved from.
The youngest of 4 children of Raymond and Shirley Lenan, Kathy was born in Des Moines Iowa on August 5, 1953. She graduated from Des Moines Technical High School where she studied Hotel and Food Management. There she met and would later marry Steven French, in the Spring of 1975. Kathy and Steve would spend the next 20 years in and around Des Moines and were blessed with 2 daughters, Amanda and Nichole. In 1998 they left Iowa and had homes in Alabama, Texas, Minnesota and finally Oklahoma.
Kathy made her home wherever Steve's work took them, not once complaining about having to start her life over again. Always able to accept change she found new jobs, made new friends and moved on. With her kind soul, open heart and quick smile she met and made deep friendships wherever their paths took them. For the past 4 years she worked as a department manager at the Walmart in Bartlesville where she took extreme pride in her work and found so much pleasure in the friendships she made with her coworkers.
Kathy is survived by her husband Steve, daughters Amanda Bass (Russ) and Nichole French, grandson Steven Jones, mother Shirley Lenan, brother Edgil Bruce, sisters Patty Spence (Skip) and Fran Marks (Jeff Jorgensen). She is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Lenan.
There will be a Celebration of Life gathering at the Holiday Inn at 4800 Merle Hay Road in Urbandale, Iowa on Sunday December 9, 2018 between 1:00 and 4:00 PM. Kathy had an immense love for all animals so in lieu of flowers or monetary gifts the family encourages you to make a donation to your local Animal Rescue League in Kathy's honor.
