Grove, OK - Kay Clement "K.C." Tompers, 86, died Friday, June 16, 2006 at Grand Lake Villa, Grove, Oklahoma. K.C. was born April 28, 1920 at Duluth, Minnesota to Theo C. Tompers and Kathryn (McCrossin) Tompers. He served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Navy "Seabees" as an Electricians Mate 1st Class. Following his honorable discharge, K.C. married Peggy Holen on November 6, 1945 at Mount Vernon, Washington. He worked for Kellog Switchboard & Supply, which later became I.T.T., North Electric Company, Seismograph Service Co., Sprint and held various positions in the Telecom Industry. K.C.'s jobs took the Tompers to Seattle, Washington; St. Paul, Minnesota; San Mateo and Citrus Heights, California; Downers Grove, Illinois; Dallas, Texas; Tulsa and lastly, Grove, Oklahoma. He retired in 1985 and was a past member of Roadrunners, Inc., and Telephone Pioneers. Survivors are, his wife, Peggy of the home; one daughter, Lynn Wright and her husband, Harvey of Olathe, Kansas; one son, Ted Tompers of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother, Dan Tompers of Mead, Washington; one granddaughter, Carole Fleniken and her husband, Greg of Toledo, Ohio; a grandson, Jeff Wright and his wife, Kristen of Olathe and four great-grandchildren, Drew, Maegan, Brandon and Peyton. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 3, 2006 at the Grove First United Methodist Church with Reverend Randall Hamill, officiating. His ashes will be taken to Lake Almanor, California for disposition. Friends who wish are encouraged to donate to the First United Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
