Kenneth Birkes

Kenneth Oren Birkes, 89 year old, Grove, Oklahoma resident, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at his home, with his family by his side. Kenneth was born on August 17, 1923 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Harry and Gladys (Brooks) Birkes. After high school He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, during World War II. On November 9, 1951 Kenneth married Bonnie L Powell, together they raised two boys. Over the years, Kenneth owned and operated several different construction and building companies. He was a well known and respected developer who worked on several major projects both in Tulsa and in the Grove area. He enjoyed golfing, and traveling. Kenneth was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Birkes. Kenneth is survived by his wife Bonnie, of the home, sons, Kenneth and wife Connie of Grove, Oklahoma, and David and wife Lorice of Tulsa, Oklahoma, a sister Mildred Carter of Grove, Oklahoma, and a grandson, Kenneth Stoney Birkes, of Grove, Oklahoma. A visitation for Kenneth will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday November 12, 2012 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma. Funeral services for Kenneth will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 also at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, Oklahoma. Interment will be at the Resthaven Cemetery in Sperry, Oklahoma.
