Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita, 918-256-5555. Larry Duane Bowie, 61 year old former Vinita resident, passed away at his home in Highland Village, Texas on Thursday, April 27, 2017. He was born on June 4, 1955 in Vinita to Johnny D. and Louise (Lay) Bowie. Larry graduated from White Oak High School and received his Associates Degree from NEO A & M College in Miami. On June 8, 1979 he married the love of his life Susan Hayes at the First Christian Church in Vinita. Larry was an employee of the First National Bank in Vinita, then became the office manager for country music star Reba McEntire for several years, living in Brentwood, Tennessee and then to Owasso. Later they moved to Texas where Larry went to work for Sabre, which later became HP, servicing American Airlines. Larry was a fan of OU football, enjoyed cooking and collecting antiques. Most of all he loved his family, he loved to watch his son's and grandchildren in all their activities, all of them were very special to him. Preceding him in death were his parents, a nephew, Lark Bowie, a sister, Jimona Kay Bowie, mother in-law, Sandra Hayes, step mother in-law, Barbara Hayes, brothers in-law, Jack Wofford and Sid Kammerzell. The family includes: his wife Susan of the home; sons, Reid Bowie and his significant other Carol Thumann of Little Elm, TX, Ryan Bowie and wife Jennifer of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren, McKinley, Sloane, Scarlett, Cameron, and Cayden Bowie; sisters, Donna Wofford of Vinita, Mickey Hayes and husband Jim of Collinsville, Linda Kammezell of Oologah; a brother Wayne Bowie and wife Donna of Vinita; father in-law, Frank Hayes of White Oak; brothers in-law, Ed Jones of Vinita, Johnny Hayes, Larry Hayes, Terry Hayes and Glen Hayes all of White Oak; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Vinita. The funeral will be held on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Cowboy Junction in Vinita, with Pastor Skip McClain officiating. Interment will follow at the Pheasant Hill Cemetery north of Vinita.
