Leta Harrison

December 24, 1924 — August 12, 2017

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma 918-786-2261. Leta Mae Fields Harrison passed away Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the Grove Nursing Center. She was born to Beulah and Earl Fields on December 24, 1924, in rural Grove, Oklahoma, and attended school through eighth grade at Dodge. She moved on to graduate from Grove High School with the class of 1942. Leta married the love of her life, Kenneth Scott Harrison, on November 5, 1942 in Joplin, Missouri. They were married 54 years and blessed with two precious children, Deanna Jean and Kenneth Lee. Leta enjoyed being outdoors and working in the yard. In later years, when one of the wheels had been taken off the mower to keep her in the house, she resorted to using extension cords plugged into the electric weed eater to mow the yard. Suffice it to say, she was determined! She also was a wonderful cook - her molasses cookies, pecan pie and cocoa sheet cake could cause a riot. Leta also was a longtime member of Dodge Baptist Church, and was active as long as her health permitted. She loved the church, good preaching and gospel singing. In addition to her parents, husband and children, Leta was preceded in death by her sister, Bertha Teel, brother Jim Fields and his wife, Donna; brother Eldo Fields and wife Byrda; niece Myrene Claxton and husband, Benny; and nephew Scott Fields. She is survived by her nephew Keith Fields and wife Kay; nieces Janet Stover and husband Dub; Sharon Keasler and husband, Bob; nephews Jeff Fields and wife Linda; and Steve Fields. Also surviving are special great nieces and nephews and their precious children, along with several cousins. All of her family were very dear to her. Graveside services will be held at Olympus Cemetery at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2017, with Brother Lonnie Sanders officiating. Honoring Leta's life serving as casket bearers will be: Jay Bauer, Heath Claxton, Dustin Fields, Jeramie Moffett, Brent Sanders and Dale Younger. Online condolences can be made by viewing Leta's Book of Memories at www.honoringmemories.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, Oklahoma.
