Linda Louise Mathews, 71, beloved mother was called to her eternal resting place on November 9, 2023, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born to Lee Kelly Anderson and Eula Mae (Elias) Anderson on March 11, 1952, in Coffeyville, Kansas.
Linda was raised and graduated from high school in Coffeyville, Kansas. In her younger years, Linda married Juan Berry and the couple moved to Michigan. Although their marriage did not work out, from that union, they had 5 children: Kevin, Juana, Steve, Donell, and Tanikka.
Linda moved back to Coffeyville, Kansas, where she continued to raise her children and obtained her associate degree from Coffeyville Community College. She worked in the healthcare field for a while, but Linda’s true gift was being a homemaker. She had a second chance at happiness when she married Bennie Mathews in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, on Mathews Mountain in 1996. Linda was a member of the Little Flock Baptist Church in South Coffeyville, Oklahoma, and served as the church secretary.
Linda had several interests including painting, flower arranging, sewing clothing, and ceramics. Pepsi and cigarettes were two things you would almost never see her without. Linda (Momma) will be missed by all that knew her for her smile, her laugh, and her soft cheeks.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents: Lee Anderson and Eula Mae Anderson; her husband: Bennie Mathews; her children: Steve Berry and Donell Berry; and her siblings: Beverly Alley, Rodrick Elias, Darryl Anderson, and Joleen Anderson.
Those left to cherish the memory of Linda include her children: Kevin Anderson, Juana Berry-Gardner and husband, Cedric, and Tanikka West; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, her siblings: Keith Houcks, Wendy Nave and husband, Reverend James Nave, and Stephen Elias; along with other family members and friends.
A funeral service for Linda Mathews will be held on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 1:00 pm at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel with Reverend Vincent Orange officiating. A visitation will be held on Sunday,November 26, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel. Online condolences can be left at www.honoringmemoriesnowata.com.
