Lorena Jean (Kirby) Theys, 60, lifetime resident of Nowata, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on September 30, 2021. Lorena was born May 15, 1961, in Nowata, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ernie and Wanda Kirby.

She attended the Nowata Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1979. Lorena was an office assistant for the Hayes House for many years. She enjoyed her job because it involved helping and caring for others. Lorena married Michael Theys on July 16, 2016, in Nowata, Oklahoma.

She is remembered for her strong faith and love of the Lord. She had a spiritual impact on others as well as family. Lorena was passionate about reading the bible and listening to praise and worship music. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, crafts, and fishing. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh. Her greatest accomplishment was her family; whom she loved unconditionally and always made sure their needs were met. She had a big heart and always willing to put other’s needs before her own. Many people will be forever touched by the example she set with her kind words and actions. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Lorena was preceded in death by her biological father David Carnell; one sister, Tami Hindman, and one nephew, Daniel Frye.

She is survived by her husband Michael Theys of the home; parents, Wanda, and Ernie Kirby; two stepchildren, Ryan Theys and wife Betty Jo, Raegen Gibson and husband, Matt; five grandchildren; four siblings, Kris Fraunberger and husband Michael, Cindy Moss and husband Robert, Wanda Jackson and husband, Chris, Michael Carnell, her brother in law Pumpkin Hindman; her fur baby cat, Obie and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday October 12, 2021, at the Living Word Family Church in Nowata, OK, with Matt Rowell officiating. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service Nowata, Ok.
