Loyce Curtis

Loyce E. Curtis, 78-year-old Nowata resident, passed away at 5:00a.m., Monday, July 17, 2006 at the Osage Nursing Home in Nowata. Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Curtis will be held at 10:00a.m., Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Lincoln Cemetery in Nowata with the Rev. Jerry Jeffries officiating. Curtis was born March 31, 1928 in Craig County, Oklahoma to Herman Owens and Blanche Hubbard-Daniels. Mrs. Curtis attended schools at the Madden School near Lightning Creek and at the Lincoln School. She married James L. Curtis in 1944 and later began working as a Certified Nurse Aide at the Nowata Hospital and later for Osage Nursing Home. Mrs. Curtis spent a great deal of her spare time fishing. She loved catching perch, catfish, and bass with an old cane pole. Mrs. Curtis also enjoyed watching professional wrestling on T.V. Mrs. Curtis is survived by one son, Darnel Curtis and his wife Margaret of Nowata; by one brother, Herman Owens of Nowata; and by one grandson, Brian Curtis. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband; and by one sister, Gladys Avery.
