Margie Melton

Margie Jane Melton passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015 at Grace Living Center in Edmond, Oklahoma. She was born March 25, 1926 in Talala, Oklahoma to David Carl and Lula (Willy) Valk. Margie graduated from Talala High School and on June 11, 1955 she married the love of her life, Robert Watt Melton in Nowata, Oklahoma. She worked for Citi Service Oil Company as head of keypunch operations. They lived in Nowata where she and Bob owned and operated Melton Service and Appliance for many years. Margie was a member of the Hillside Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking, especially at the holiday times, as well as gardening, and sewing. She loved baking cookies and sharing them with the neighborhood kids. Her husband, daughter, grandchildren, and other family had a very special place in her heart and she loved them dearly. She will be missed by all who knew her. Mrs. Melton is preceded in death by her parents, David and Lula Valk, her husband, Bob Melton, an infant son, Shawn Melton, and siblings, Earl Valk, Fern Valk, Sara Renfroe, and Martha Harvey. Surviving Mrs. Melton are her daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and David Stanley of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Rob Stanley and wife Emmy; Beth Stanley; a sister Joie Taylor and her husband Charles of Conroe, Texas; a brother, Roger Valk and his wife Margaret of Oologah, OK; two great-grandchildren, Lilli and Carter Stanley and many other relatives as well as a host of friends. Funeral services are 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Hillside Christian Church. Interment will follow at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials in Margie's name may be donated to Oklahoma Alzheimer's Association at 2123 Classen, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73016. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com
