Marguerite Leona (Shaw) Reavis, age 93, passed away peacefully March 18, 2020 at Bec’s Blessing Assisted Living in Giddings, TX. She was born July 24, 1926, in Independence, KS to Otis Shaw and Helena Faye (Stine) Shaw. She graduated from Independence High School in 1944.
On July 10, 1945, she married the love of her life, James L Reavis, in Columbus, KS. In 1950, after her husband completed his graduate studies at the University of Kansas, they moved to Coffeyville, KS where they made their home for 45 years.
Marguerite was active in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Coffeyville, serving on the Altar Guild and assisting with the Thrift Shop.
Their retirement years were spent on Grand Lake near Grove, OK, fishing and boating. She moved to Texas in 2016.
She was predeceased by her parents and husband; two half-brothers, Harold and Millard Shaw, and one half-sister, Ottolene Rains Smith.
She is survived by her three children, a daughter Nancy M Schurr of Glenwood Springs, CO, and sons Daniel J Reavis of Humble, TX and James L (Lyn) Reavis/Phyllis of Round Top, TX. Six grandchildren; Jeremy Reavis, Phillip Reavis/Apryl, Sarah Reavis, Lisa Kohn/Andy, Kelsey Miller/Mark, and Karleigh Canino/Addison. There are seven great-grandchildren.
The Family would like to express our thanks for the excellent care provided by the staff of Bec’s Blessing, Encompass Healthcare, and Resolution Hospice of Bastrop, TX.
