Marjorie Lawson

Marjorie E. (Hickman) Lawson, age 92, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2011, in the Bartlesville Care Center. Marjorie Ellen Hickman was born September 19, 1918 in Alva, Woods County, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Blake Hickman and Nellie (Duding) Hickman. She was raised and attended school in Union City, Oklahoma City, Prague and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Marjorie and S. Dayton Lawson were united in marriage in 1937. Mr. Lawson was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company. During that time, they lived in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Phillips, Texas and Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Since moving to Bartlesville in 1941, Marjorie had been a member of First United Methodist Church, where she was very active in the 20th Century Sunday School Class. She also served in several capacities in the Women's Society of the church, locally, district and conference. She was a charter member of the Rose Garden Club and a charter member of Toastmistress Club, Bartlesville. Marjorie leaves behind two sons, Shelby D. Lawson, Jr., Bartlesville, and Bob Lawson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughters-in-law, Jan and Jan; four grandsons, Robert, and his wife, Tracy, Michael and his wife, Joanna, Brad, and Matthew and his wife, Karin; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brothers, Glenn Hickman and his wife, Lila, of Texas, and Charles Hickman of Claremore, Oklahoma; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Blake and Nellie Hickman; her husband, Shelby D. Lawson, Sr., on April 6, 2000; and her sister, Mildred DeHart.
