Marvin Daugherty

Marvin V. Daugherty, 64 old resident of Jay, OK, passed away on July 21, 2020 at Integris Grove Hospital.

Marvin was born on June 21, 1956 in Claremore, Oklahoma.  He was the son of Claude and Juanita (Tehee) Daugherty. Marvin was baptized on September 14, 1969 in Beatty Creek by Sam Hider.  He was united in marriage on June 4, 1976, to the love of his life Diana Cauthen at Piney Baptist Church. Marvin was a huge Bigfoot enthusiast. Marvin enjoyed going fishing, playing marbles, hunting, watching OU Football, going to thrift stores, yard sales and playing dominoes.  He was the founder of the Sunday Morning Bank Fishing Tournament. Marvin enjoyed spending time with his grandson, going to Trader Joe’s and eating Rob’s chili. Marvin was a member of the Piney Baptist Church.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diana of the home, son—Ryan (wife Bryn and son Bryan) of Tahlequah, OK,  daughter—Kelli of Jay, OK,  daughter—Brooke (and son-in-law Matt) of Chandler, AZ,  brother—Joe of Mustang, OK, niece Kati (husband Blake, great niece Kenzlee, great nephew Kolten) of Tuttle, OK,  brother—Dewayne (wife Sherri) of Maysville, AR,  nephew Brad (wife Brooke, great niece Zoey, great nephew Hudson) of Broken Arrow, OK,  nephew Trevor (great nephew Brycen) of Maysville, AR,  brother – Rob Daugherty (Ambassador of the family), sister-in-law—Rhonda Sloan of Pryor, OK,  nephew Darren (great nephew Koda, great niece Abigail) of Pryor, OK,  niece Brandylynn Duncan (husband Alex, great nephew Tyler) of Inola, OK,  Aunt Wallora Kingfisher of Jay, OK, Aunt Wynena Daugherty of Jay, OK, Uncle DeWitt Tehee and wife Anna, and Numerous cousins and a lot of Beatty Creek friends.  Special Lifelong Friends: Lanny Randolph, Robin Rogers, Jesse Six, and Eddie Tudor.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents—Juanita and Claude Daugherty, brothers—Wesley, Claude Jr., and Bob Daugherty, maternal grandparents—Dewey and Minnie Teehee, paternal grandparents—Charlie and Iva Daugherty.

A wake will be held at 6 PM, Monday, July 27, 2020 at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, in Jay, OK. Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Piney Baptist Church with Reverend DeWitt Tehee and Pastor Jess Jones officiating.  Marvin will be laid to rest in the O'Field Cemetery. Honoring Marvin’s life serving as casket bearers will be: Gump, Derrik Sixkiller, Phil King, Mike Clayton, Slick, Bill White and Darren Sloan.  Honorary bearers will be Rob Daugherty, Mike Shambaugh, Brad Daugherty, Trevor Daugherty, Bryan Daugherty, Roy Tanner, Matt Okunevich and Tyler Sloan.  Services have been entrusted to Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma.
