Mary Cox

Mary Katherine Cox, passed away at the Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove, OK on Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the age of 83. Mary was born in San Angelo, TX, the daughter of the late Herbert Wesley Hurn, Sr. and Theresa Leola (Riddling) Hurn. Mary obtained her bachelors degree in education. She taught for 27 years and retired in 1992. During her career, she primarily taught in the grade levels of third, fourth, and fifth. Mary was wed to Donald Cox, Sr. on July 18, 1954 in Rankin, TX. Mary was an artist and a member of the Brush and Palette Club. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Grove since 1994 and proudly attended the Thomas Class for Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Donald Cox, Sr. of Grove, OK; two sons: Donald Cox, Jr. of Fayetteville, GA and Randall T. Cox, Sr. and his wife Diane of Joplin, MO; two grandchildren: Randall Cox, Jr. and Rachel Cox; two brothers: Herbert Hurn, Jr. of Holiday Haven, TX and WM. T. Hurn of San Antonio, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends. The memorial service will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Monday, November 19, 2012 at 1PM with the Rev. Randall Hamill, presiding. The burial of the cremated remains will take place on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 in the Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City, KS.
