Mary "Evelyn" (Inman) Jordan

Mary “Evelyn” (Inman) Jordan, 86, of Nowata, OK, passed away peacefully on December 28, 2023, at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, OK. Evelyn was born at home in Alluwe, Oklahoma, on August 5, 1937, to Carl David Inman and Gracie Ann Pearl (Lewis) Inman.

She attended Alluwe Public Schools and graduated in 1955.  On June 4, 1955, Mary Evelyn Inman married Lloyd Wayne Jordan, a local boy she had first met at the old water well.  The two became life-long residents of Nowata County, starting out together in Punkin’ Center then eventually moving into Nowata to raise a family.  They had three children:  Terry, Diane, and Donna.

Evelyn worked at Phillips Petroleum Company, Staub’s Bulk Plant, and Nowata Machine Works as a secretary before retiring.  Family was her top priority.  She enjoyed flower gardening, sewing, frequent gatherings with her sisters and brothers, and reading.  Evelyn was a loving wife and mother, great friend, and Christian woman.  She was active in her church and community and will be missed by all who knew her.

Preceding Evelyn in death are her parents Carl and Gracie (Lewis) Inman; husband Lloyd Jordan; daughter Diane (Jordan) Albert; and sister June (Inman) Vinita.

Those left to cherish the memory of Evelyn include her children:  Terry Jordan and partner Scott Crow of Nowata; Donna Aultz and husband Byron of Nowata; and grandson Tyler Hicks and wife Tiffany of Dallas, TX.  Surviving Inman siblings include:  Goldie Blanke, Kay Thorpe and husband Gary, Don Inman, and Ronnie Inman and wife Marilyn.  Evelyn enjoyed her extended family and many, many friends.

Funeral services for Evelyn Jordan will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM in Cornerstone Community Church where she and Lloyd were founding members.  Pastor Bobby Pringle will officiate.  Interment follows at the Nowata Re-located Cemetery.  

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, from 5-7pm in Benjamin Funeral Home, Nowata, OK.
