Mary Angeline Haugh

Mary Angeline (Reams) Haugh, 90-year-old longtime Nowata resident, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas surrounded by family. She was born April 10, 1934, in Yale, Oklahoma to Roy and Fannie West. She married Dan Haugh April 3, 1953, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. 

Mary was a devoted wife and mother and was proud to spend her life as a homemaker. She was a devoted and faithful member of the Church of Christ. Throughout her life, she was always continually active in the church. She loved to work crossword puzzles and was an amazing seamstress. She made numerous articles of clothing for children and her quilts have become treasured heirlooms. Mary also had a great love of nature, particularly bird watching in the woods around her house and over the lake. 

Being a mother was Mary’s calling. She was active in the children’s activities and served as a Girl Scout Leader for a number of years. She also enjoyed her time living in Norway and was able to tour Europe, Russia, and Italy seeing many of the notable historical landmarks throughout those countries. 

Mary is survived by her children, Charlotte Bartel and husband, Mike, of Valley Center, Kansas, Jeannine LaBarr and husband, Jim, of Eagle Rock, Missouri, and Bonnie West and husband, Marc, of Loxley, Alabama; grandchildren, Sarah Wolter and husband, Benjie of Denver, Colorado, Kristen Bartel of Houston, Texas, Nathan Bartel and Michael Hodson, both of Valley Center, Kansas, Andy Harmon and wife, Niki, of Springfield, Missouri, Louis Parrish and wife, Rachel, of Nowata, Oklahoma, Angel Oden and husband, Avery, of Norman, Oklahoma, Autumn Parrish-Michalopoulos and husband, Patrick, of Silverhill, Alabama, and Batt and Jenny West of Loxley, Alabama; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Reba Talbott of Stillwater; and brother, Tom Reams of Stillwater. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dan; son, Mattson Haugh; and sister, Shirley Hollingsworth. 

A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, January 31, 2025, in the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Andrew Haire officiating. The family will receive friends before the service from 11:00-1:30 in the Chapel. Interment will follow in Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery with Andy Harmon, Michael Hodson, Louis Parrish, Batt West and Nathan Bartel serving as casket bearers. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kansas City Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Mary’s name.
