Mary Matthews

Mary Sue Matthews, age 67, of Eucha, Oklahoma died Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at the Integris Grove General Hospital in Grove, Oklahoma. Mary was born on June 12, 1940 to Watt and Anna Hogshooter in Eucha, Oklahoma. Mary was united in marriage to Chauncey Matthews on October 14, 1962 in Miami, Oklahoma. Mary worked for the Cherokee Nation as a receptionist, retiring after twenty-five years. Surviving family members include her husband of 45 years, Chauncey Matthews, daughter, Karla Kelley, and her husband Billy of Kansas, Oklahoma, sons; Darryl Matthews and his wife Bonnie of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Jimmy Matthews and his wife Cindy of Jay, Oklahoma, and Lewis Matthews and Tonya Brantly of Eucha, Oklahoma, thirteen grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 10, 2008 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Jay, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2008 at the Round Springs Baptist Church in Eucha, Oklahoma. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Gary Sloan, Toby Reasor, Junior O'Field, Bill White, David Hogshooter, Kenny Hogshooter, and honorary pallbearer, Rodney Reasor. The Sycamore Springs Baptist Church, with Pastor Rufus King officiating will provide music for the services.
