Mary Ann Stookey, 67, of Nowata, passed away Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Bartlesville Care Center. She was born January 3, 1949 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Arthur Dewey and Frances Fern (Coker) Stookey. Mary was a graduate of Nowata High School in 1967 and later graduated from the Oklahoma Baptist University. Mary pursued a career working for the State of Oklahoma where she became a Welfare Teacher. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nowata and was saved at 7 years old. She loved reading and read as much as she could. Mary spent her time painting, writing and telling stories about her family. She was a loving daughter, sister and aunt. She will be missed by all who knew her. Preceding Ms. Stookey in death are her parents, Arthur and Frances Stookey and siblings, Steven Dewey Stookey and Teddy Michael Byrd. She is survived by and uncle, Donald Coker and his wife Wanda of New Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews.
