Mary Katherine “Kathy” Grissom, 69, passed away February 18, 2022, at Integris Southwest Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born on August 14, 1952, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to George A. and MaryAnn Loreen (Benefiel) White.
On June 11, 1976, Kathy married the love of her life, Chester L. Grissom in Catoosa, OK. The couple made their home in the Nowata area. Kathy worked on the assembly line at Lorance Electronics in Tulsa, OK, assembling fish locators, for 17 years before retiring.
Kathy was a caring person and was willing to take anyone in as her own and love them. She had been known to raise and help various family members that were in need. She was loving, could be a jokester, and was really a unique character. Kathy was truly one of a kind. She enjoyed playing Bingo, loved her family, especially her only granddaughter, Shelby, who was her pride and joy. Her husband of 45 years, Chester, was her best friend. When Christmas time came around, family and friends would be looking forward to her Christmas candy. Kathy loved the Lord. Before more recently moving to Holdenville, OK; Kathy attended Living Word Family Church in Nowata, OK. After moving, she attended the First Baptist Church of Holdenville. Everyone that knew Kathy will miss her greatly.
Kathy is survived by her husband; Chester L. Grissom, her son, Robert D. Grissom, her daughter, Christy L. Sloat and husband, David M. Sloat, and her son, Jeffrey A. Grissom and wife, Kendra D. Grissom, a granddaughter; Shelby Faith Lynn Grissom, an aunt; Evon Stark, a niece; Summer Brummett and husband, Steve, and a very special family friend, Chigger Mattix; along with other family and a host of friends.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, George and MaryAnn White, and sisters, Ruthie M. Schlimm, Cressa A. Ewers, and Patricia White.
Funeral services for Kathy Grissom will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Living Word Family Church. Interment will follow at the Nowata Memorial Park Relocated Cemetery. The family will be available at visitation to be held on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel.
