Maybell Carey passed away at 5:05 p.m. on May 13, 2008 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Maybell (Webster) was born in Welch, Oklahoma on June 16, 1923 to James Alfred and Lillie Mae (Parmer) Webster. She was educated in Picher Schools and Miami Business College. She and James H. Carey, Jr. were married on April 11, 1945 at Columbus, Kansas. She worked as a typist for eight years at Phillips Petroleum Company and was a resident of Bartlesville for more than 60 years. Mrs. Carey was active for decades with Eastern Heights Baptist Church as well as Penn and Tux Homemakers Club. She was an avid gardener, won countless ribbons at the Washington County Fair for her baking, canning, candy-making, quilting and needlework, and donated thousands of sewing projects to the Jane Phillips Hospital, Bartlesville Police Department and local day cares and nursing homes. She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Carey, Jr., who passed away on December 9, 2005. Maybell is survived by her children, loving daughter Nancy Carey of Milwaukee, WI, James R. Carey of Tulsa, Gary W. Williams (Fauntella) of San Antonio, TX, two sisters, Beatrice Mouser and Maydell Spittler, both of California, devoted grandchildren Jake and Caroline Kotras of Milwaukee, Ryan, Joshua and Jeremy Carey of Tulsa, Gary W. Williams II of Texas and Shannon Williams of California, as well as 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Carey will be held in the Colonial Chapel of the Neekamp-Luginbuel Funeral Home on Monday, May 19th at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
