Mertie Johnson

January 2, 1918 — February 26, 2013

Mertie Johnson, passed away at the Integris Grove Hospital in Grove, OK, on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at the age of 95. Mertie was born January 2, 1918 in Bald Knob, AR, the daughter of the late Dan William Guthrie and Maude (Mote) Guthrie. Mertie grew up on the family farm in Arkansas. She married Ernie Johnson. Mertie spent most of her life living in Valley Park, MO. She worked as a Nurses Aid in a nursing care facility. Mertie enjoyed playing Pitch, Bingo, and watching TV but most of all she loved to be around her family especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son Bill Roberts; one daughter Doris Day; and two grandchildren: Karen Bequette and Jim Starr. She is survived by her one daughter Glenda Bequette of Mesquite, NV; 10 grandchildren: Tenna Shotpouch, Barbara Newsome, Bill Roberts, Jr., Johnny Roberts, Sherri Dungan, Tammie Brown, Bob Bequette, Cindy Sudbrack, Brenda Johnson, and Buddy Day; and numerous other great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. The graveside service will be held at the Mount Hermon Cemetery on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 2PM with Rev. Bill Goldner, presiding. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, OK. Friends and family may leave notes of encouragement by viewing Mertie's Book of Memories at www.honoringmemories.com.
