Michael Bowman

November 12, 1963 — September 11, 2022

Amarillo, Texas

Michael Lee Bowman was called home to hunt and fish in paradise on September 11th, 2022. Mike was a beloved husband, dad, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. He was born in Columbus, Ohio on Lockbourne Air Force Base to Kay Thorpe (Inman-Bowman). He spent his youth in Delaware and Adair having many, many friends. Mike graduated from Delaware High School in 1982. After high school, he married Sharon Eden until her death in 1989. Later meeting Maria (Giedraitis) Chilton in Amarillo, Texas they were married in October 1993. To this loving union Mike was blessed with two children, Leland Chilton and Laci (Chilton) Ward.

Mike was known for his wit, pranks, jokes, and his quick smile. He loved to be outside hunting, camping, or just spending time with family and friends. He also loved to fish and would fish any pond he could find. Mike worked many years as a commercial painter and enjoyed the travel that he got to do with his job. He loved being “Papa” and spending time with his grandchildren – Kameron, Lexi, Saralyn, and Reese. His favorite stories were about going to Colorado and Montana with Leland and hunting bear or elk - or about his antics when he was growing up. Mike was a dedicated and loyal family man and friend.

Mike is survived by his wife Maria Bowman of Amarillo, Texas; his son Leland and wife Loretta Chilton, and daughter Laci Ward. Parents Gary and Kay Thorpe of Grove, brother Tim and wife Nicole Bowman of Stillwater, sister Sherry Irons of Adair, and many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. Mike was preceded in death by his sister Starla (Bowman) Tole.
