Mittie Dailey

Mittie Dailey, age 109 and resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away Monday evening, June 6, 2016 in Heritage Villa Nursing Center, Bartlesville. Mittie Brown was born on October 1, 1906 in the Boles Community, Indian Territory, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Gilbert "Gil" Brown and Maria (Willis) Brown. She grew up in the Dunbar, Oklahoma community, which is west of Marietta, Oklahoma, in what is now Love County, Oklahoma. She received her education in the Dunbar community schools, where she met the man she would marry. On July 3, 1926, Mittie and Lindsey Dailey were united in marriage in Marietta. The young couple made their home in Marietta before moving to Bartlesville in 1967. Mr. Dailey preceded Mittie in death on May 18, 1982. The couple had six children. In Bartlesville, Mittie was employed with several area families, as well as Hillcrest Country Club, as a cook and housekeeper. She was a member of Greater First Baptist Church, Bartlesville. In her earlier years, she was very active in her community. She was a member of the Oklahoma Federated Women's Club and she worked with the Westside Community Center. She enjoyed painting, ceramics and cooking. However her greatest joy was her family. Mittie loved the Lord with every fiber of her being. One of her favorite quotes was "God is God and always will be." Survivors include her daughter, Bettye A. Williams of Bartlesville; 21 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 80 great-great grandchildren; 16 great-great-great grandchildren; and other family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lindsey Dailey, Sr.; five children, Forrestine Dailey, Lindsey Dailey, Jr., Milton Roy Dailey, William Gene Dailey and Jerry Emery Dailey. Come and go Visitation for Mittie will be held on Thursday and Friday from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM in Greater First Baptist Church, Bartlesville. Pastor Victor Paul will officiate. Mrs. Dailey will be interred on Monday at 1:00 PM in the Dunbar Cemetery, Marietta, Oklahoma.
