We mourn the loss of Nancy June Reeves, a gentle spirit of strength, born on July 28, 1934, and went home to Jesus on April 18, 2024. Her life was characterized by her kind-hearted nature and warm smile. A lover of Alan Jackson's music, playing Dominos and card games like Pitch and Jubel, Nancy also found joy in time with her family, reading, and arts or crafts. She was a longtime member of Hillside Christian Church in Nowata. The Nowata Senior Citizen's center and church were her favorite local spots, and red was her color of choice.
In 1952, Nancy began working at Glenn C. Moore Elementary School. She nurtured young minds for over five decades before retiring in 2006. Her dedicated service was an inspiration to many and encapsulated her belief in the importance of education.
Nancy's family was the cornerstone of her life. In July 1955, she married her loving husband Ivan Reeves. Together, they had two daughters: Iva June and Tammy. They had 52 wonderful years together until Ivan’s death in 2007. Nancy is also preceded in death by her parents Jake and Vera Black, her siblings Jerry, Pete, Rodney, Bob (Pug), John, Linda, and Dean Black, and her oldest daughter, Iva June Harrison.
She is survived by her daughter Tammy Hunt, her son-in-law Cliff Harrison, her grandchildren Todd Harrison and Lindsey Dixon and her husband Chandler, her sisters Connie Anderson and Jackie Hathcoat, and many nieces and nephews.
Nancy's legacy is one of generosity and kindness. She lived by the philosophy of treating everyone she met with kindness and a warm smile, and reminded us that family is the most important part of life. This wisdom will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Nancy will be truly missed by her family, friends, and anyone who knew her. Her gentle spirit, her loving nature, and her strong will leave a void that can never be filled. We celebrate her life and her spirit and find comfort in knowing that her legacy will continue in the lessons she has left behind.
Funeral services for Nancy will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Hillside Christian Church in Nowata. A visitation for friends and family will be on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Benjamin Funeral Service from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemoriesnowata.com.
