Nora Brewington

January 18, 1927 — February 4, 2012

Nora Louise Brewington, 85, was born Nora Louise Coe on January 18, 1927 to Thomas Lee Coe and Cora Belle (Winston) Coe in Charlotte, Ark. and went home to be with her Jesus on Feb. 4, 2012, at Summit Nursing Center, in Okeene, Okla. Mrs. Brewington lived a full life loving her Savior and her family in an unconditional way that is an example to all. As a child she attended the historic one room, Oak Bluff School House near Charlotte, Ark. with her seven brothers and sisters through the 8th grade and contributed her memories to the book "Oak Bluff School Story" authored by her brother. She married Chester Leon Brewington on June 1, 1946 and they started a family right away. The Brewington family moved from Arkansas to Nowata in 1951 and this is where they raised their six children. Times were hard while she raised her family, but Mrs. Brewington always made sure her family had enough to eat and clothes to wear. She was a full-time mom and a gifted seamstress, not only with clothing, but she made dolls and doll clothing for her children and grandchildren. She loved quilting and was a phenomenal cook; most especially to her neighbors and family. She leaves a loving legacy of handcrafted gifts and family recipes. A member of the New Life Assembly of God Church in Nowata, Mrs. Brewington attended faithfully and brought her family until her health would not allow her to attend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon of 44 years; two brothers; and her daughter-in-law. Mrs. Brewington is survived and treasured by her six children, Shelia Fisher and husband, Don of Okeene, Derrell Brewington of Goodman, Missiouri, Tom Brewington and wife Diana of Bartlesville, Lowell Brewington and wife Sue of Newkirk, Sandie Fitch and husband Louie of Okeene and Virgil Brewington and wife Debbie of Wann; 10 grandchildren, Mandy Spaeth and husband Brian of Okeene, Stacy Wingard and husband Lawrence of Bartlesville, Tammy Billups and husband Jamie of Wann, Brian Brewington and wife Jennifer of Bartlesville, Terri Busch and husband Mark of Ponca City, Dewayne Brewington and Wife Alicia of Newkirk, Bill Brewington and Wife Bobby Jo of Wann, Christian Brewington and wife Emily of Dayton, OH, Cherrie Brewington of Ponca City, and Jason Brewington of Wann; three brothers, Thomas Lee Coe Jr. of Batesville, AR, William Coe of Charlotte, AR, and Phillip Coe of Claremore, two sisters, Geneva Hubble of Wilburton and Vera Petty of Kansas City, Kansas, and 18 great-grandchildren.
