Norita LaVonne Akers, 84, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, OK, on April 28, 2024. She was born on May 1, 1939, in rural Nowata County to William C. Adams and Iva A. (Teufal) Adams.
Norita grew up in Delaware, OK, graduating from Delaware High School. After graduating high school, she attended business school, where she became accomplished in shorthand writing, as well as typing. She was known to be an excellent typer and could type at a speedy pace. For several years, Norita worked as a secretary for Lowrance Electronics in Tulsa, OK, until retirement.
In her free time, Norita enjoyed crocheting. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and was crowned the co-queen for the Red Hat Society-Tulsa Rojo Chapeaux Sisterhood. She was active in helping others and crocheted many hats for the homeless. Norita loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was active in attending the activities and sports. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Norita is preceded in death by her parents: William C. and Iva A. (Teufal) Adams; her husband: Bill Akers of Tulsa, OK, her brother: John C. Adams; her nephew: Jimmy Adams of Delaware, OK, and her niece: Pattie Hill of Bernice, OK.
Those left to cherish the memory of Norita include her children: Kenny Johnson and wife, Brenda of Bartlesville, OK, and Bobby Johnson and wife, Becky of Nowata, OK; her grandchildren: Lindsey Crouch and husband, Dusty of Nowata, OK, April Hopper and husband, Lucas of Bartlesville, OK, and Kyle Johnson and wife, Margo of Nowata, OK; her 8 great-grandchildren; her siblings: Roy Adams and wife, Dawn of Delaware, OK, David Adams of Alluwe, OK, and Jerry Adams and wife, Geneva of Owasso, OK, and sister-in-law: Susan Adams of Moore, OK; along with other family members and friends.
A funeral service for Norita will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM the Benjamin Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Andrew Haire officiating.
