Patricia Ann Johnson, 59-year-old Nowata resident, passed away at her home Monday, April 26, 2010. Ms. Johnson was born February 20, 1951 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Otis Brown and Ernestine Virginia Hicks. Ms. Johnson moved to Nowata at the age of 4 where she was raised by her adoptive mother, Mrs. Loretta Alberty. She attended the Lincoln School in Nowata and later graduated from Nowata High School with the Class of 1970. Ms. Johnson had worked as a nurse aide until an illness forced her retirement. Those left behind who dearly loved and will deeply miss Ms. Johnson include three children, Richard Hicks of Nowata, Robert Hicks of Independence, Kansas, and Farris Johnson of Tulsa; 7 granddaughters; 3 grandsons; sisters, Gloria Hicks of Nowata, Alice Glass of Bartlesville, Loretta Nave of Coffeyville, Kansas, and Teresa Hill of Nowata; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Ms. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; by her adoptive mother, Loretta Alberty; by a sister, Charlene Ledman; and by one granddaughter. Funeral services for Ms. Johnson will be held at 11:00a.m., Friday, April 30, 2010 at the First Baptist Church located at 252 N. Willow Street in Nowata with the Rev. Rex Woodfork and the Rev. Ralph Beavers officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Nowata under the direction of the Benjamin Funeral Service.
