Patty Jacobs

Patty June Jacobs passed away at Grandwood Assisted Living in Grove, OK, on Friday, October 5, 2012, at the age of 78. Patty was born on June 1, 1934 in Ottawa County, OK, the daughter of the late Luther Smith and Grace (Kidwell) Smith. Patty attended Stony Point North #7 in Ottawa County grades 1-8 before attending Seneca, MO High School where she graduated in 1952. Patty graduated as Valedictorian of her class and served as Student Council President. She married Burl Fowler in 1954 preceding his junior year at Pittsburgh State and moved to Ft. Monmouth, NJ, after his graduation to serve his commitment to the Army. After Burl's discharge from the military, the couple moved back to Seneca where they lived until moving to Monett, MO in 1967. Burl passed away in 1974. Patty then married Leon Jacobs on June 17, 1978, in Seneca, MO and settled in Miami, OK where Leon was the owner of two grocery stores. After their retirement in 1988, the couple moved to Grove where they currently reside. Patty was always very involved with the United Methodist Women, PEO, PTA and several other civic organizations. She enjoyed traveling and she and Leon were able to see all 50 states and numerous foreign countries. She was also an avid exerciser beginning the activity years before it became popular. Most of all, she loved her husband and he loved her, she loved to be with her family and remained best friends with her two sisters and two brothers throughout her life. She was always supportive of her children, and attended grandchildren's activities wherever they might be happening. Patty's life was about service, and she will be greatly missed. Patty was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Burl Fowler and daughter-in-law Dara Fowler. She is survived by her husband Leon of the home; two sons: Doug Fowler and wife Rose of Bella Vista, AR; Danny Fowler and wife Lora of Monett, MO; step-daughter LeeAnn Loudermilk and husband Mike of San Antonio, TX; step-son Scott Jacobs and wife Andrea of Bartlesville, OK; 11 grandchildren: Lindsey Martin and husband Brandon, Lizz Fowler, Amber Fowler, Wade Fowler, Desirae Fowler, Jordan Loudermilk, Ryan Loudermilk, Ben Jacobs, Emily Jacobs, Erik Peterson and wife Danielle, and Ryan Peterson; two great-grandchildren: Blake Martin and Dakota Fowler; two sisters: Vera Turner and husband Fred, and Ruth Mailes and husband Gary; two brothers: Bill Smith and wife Edna, and Bob Smith and wife Joyce; brother-in-law Jim Jacobs and numerous other relatives and friends. The service celebrating Patty's life will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church of Grove, OK. Rev. Randy Hamill will officiate. A committal service will follow at 3:00 pm at the Seneca Cemetery in Seneca, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK.
