Raleigh “Ral” Payton Shipley, 80-year-old Copan resident, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at home surrounded by family. He was born December 27, 1943, in Nowata to Clarence and Jewell (Voncannon) Shipley. He married Phyllis Albert on September 18, 1966.
Ral was a true cowboy at heart. He was also a jack of all trades and could weld and build just about anything. He passed those skills on to his boys as he taught them the construction trades as well. A member of Cowboy Up Christian Church in Ramona, Ral placed his faith in Jesus Christ. He loved his family and especially enjoyed time with his grandkids.
Ral is survived by his wife, Phyllis, of the home; children, Rick Shipley and wife, Patti of Ramona, Kurt Shipley and wife, Anna of Lenapah, Worm Shipley and wife, Kelly, of Copan, and Justin Shipley and wife, Katie, of Delaware; grandchildren, Dalton Shipley and wife Ashley, Austin Shipley and wife Kaylan, Jodi Shipley-Hall and husband, Tristan, Houston Shipley and wife, Taylor, and Charlie Shipley; great-grandchildren, Case Hall and IvaAnne Shipley; and siblings, Violet Millikan of Pryor and Mary Epps of Bartlesville.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shelli Renee Shipley in 1972; parents; brother, Walter Shipley; Nephews Gary and Jerry Shipley; and niece, Guyla Jean.
Graveside services will be held Friday, November 29, 2024, at 10:00 AM in Martin Cemetery, Childers, Oklahoma with Pastor Rick Shipley, and Deacon Brant Davis officiating.
