Raymond Lee Swetland, beloved husband, father and grandfather, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, August 27, 2006 at the age of 73. He was born on July 2, 1933 in Hastings, NE to Lee and Frances (Ferguson) Swetland. As a young boy, Raymond moved with his family to Tulsa, OK where he graduated Central High School. He then enlisted in the Naval Reserves and was active for 2 years and was discharged 8 years later in 1962. He and Bernice Esau were married in Tulsa on July 9, 1954. Along with being a Navy Veteran, he was a member of the Carpenter's Local Union #943, a Carpenter Apprenticeship Coordinator, a Boy Scout Leader, Youth Pastor, President of Ketchum School Board, Announcer of Ketchum Football Games, Church Deacon, Usher and Greeter, Sunday School Teacher and Vo-Tech teacher where he taught woodworking. Raymond was a carpenter by trade and a construction superintendent. He was a member of the New Life Foursquare Evangelical Christian Church in the Carselowey Community, where he was a very active member. He strived to live a life that would bring glory to God, and in doing so he left a legacy for all those who knew him. Survivors include his faithful wife of 52 years, Bernice, two daughters who dearly loved him Susanne and husband Rick Frost of Adair, Stephanie and husband Chet Hill of Claremore, five grandchildren; Kristen, Kalli and Kyle Frost and Cherokee and Caleb Hill. Brother Kenneth and his wife Anne of South Hamilton, MA and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 30 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita. Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday August 31, 2006 at the New Life Foursquare Church with Pastor Kevin Baker officiating. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. Raymond chose his dearly loved brothers-in-law as Casket Bearers; Gary, Fred, David, Tim, Joel and Mark Esau. Funeral Services are under the direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
