Robert M. Childress, 80-year-old South Coffeyville resident, passed away on December 6, 2007 at his nieces home in Nevada, Missouri. Robert M. Childress was born October 9, 1927 in Nowata, Oklahoma to Robert E. Childress and Margaret Slape-Childress. Mr. Childress served his country in the United States Air Force as a mechanic during the Korean Conflict. He later worked for several years at the ACME foundry until his retirement in 1986. Mr. Childress is survived by two sisters, Hazel Bailey of West Memphis, Arkansas and Zadia Houser of Nevada, Missouri; by four nieces, Patricia Houser, Betty Bennight, Margaret Shults, and Alice Courtney; by six nephews, Tom Huffman, Bob Bailey, Don Bailey, Thomas Bailey, Johnnie Bailey, Gary Bailey.
