Robert Hinman Jr.

Robert P. Hinman, Jr., 87 years old, passed from this earth and joined his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 22, 2011 in Grove, Oklahoma. He was born in Evansville, Indiana to Robert P. and Dorthea (Scheller) Hinman and was the oldest of four children. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters Mary and Barbara. Bob spent a good deal of his youth growing up on his grandfather, Charles Hinman's farm in southern Indiana. It was here where he learned hard work, Christian values, a love for horses and the outdoors. He was a veteran of World War II, enlisting in the U.S. Army shortly after turning 17 in early December of 1940. Originally in the artillery, he volunteered for the Army Rangers while stationed in Europe and saw action in Africa, Italy and Europe including the D-Day Invasion. He was wounded in combat and was awarded the Bronze Star. Discharged in November of 1945, he went back to northern Indiana and attended Valparaiso University where he played football in addition to his studies. Bob was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie, two daughters Pamela (Tom) Austin, Becky (Bobby Joe) Gideon, two sons Robert D. (Glenda) Hinman, and Dan W. (Shirley) Hinman; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one sister Dottie. We loved Dad for his good humor, strength, courage, the example of hard work he exhibited his whole life, and for the love he shared with his wife and family. The family will receive friends and relatives at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel in Grove, Oklahoma from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2011. Funeral services will be held at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home located at 711 S. Main Street, Grove, Oklahoma at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2011.
