Ronald Rasmussen

April 30, 1937 — September 28, 2008

Ronald Wayne Rasmussen, age 71, beloved husband, brother, brother-in-law, father, father-in-law, uncle, grandfather and friend of Disney, OK., passed away unexpectedly from Anaphylactic Shock from multiple wasp stings on September 28, 2008 at Grove General Hospital with his wife Sue Ellen, by his side. Ron was born on April 30, 1937 in Thief River Falls, MN to parents Werner Rasmussen and Coletta (Reller) Rasmussen. He earned a Masters Degree from Northwestern University where he also played football, before he joined the U.S. Army and served in Heidelberg, Germany. Ron had been retired and living of Grand Lake for 16 years with his wife Sue. He retired from Amoco Corporation in 1992 after almost 31 years of dedicated service. He spent most of his working career in the Chicagoland area where many of his family members and friends still reside. Since his retirement, he has enjoyed living on the water, fishing, boating, golfing and sharing his sense of humor with everyone he knew. In his "spare" time he worked as sales Representative for ETS Schaefer Corporation and was able to coordinate many wonderful visits with his daughter, son-in-law and grandson in Houston. He was very active within his church community at St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church in Langley where he was the first Chairman of the Parish Council. His generous nature led him to become the President of the Grand Lake Community Ministry where he had such a passion for helping others and freely giving of himself. He had a remarkable way with people and brought joy and laughter to those he knew. Ron is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years, Sue Ellen, daughter Amy Elizabeth and son-in-law Lloyd Kirchner, grandson n Luke Andrew, sister Arlette Rasmussen, brothers Lyle (and Karen), Kenneth (and Anita), James (and Karen) Rasmussen and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Fred and Sharri Gains. Ron truly embraced life and he will be missed by those he touched so much. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday October 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Frances of Rome Catholic Church on Hwy 28 in Langley, OK In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Ron's memory to the Grand Lake Community Ministry, Building Fund, PO Box 311, Disney OK 74340.
