Roy Brooks

Roy Cecil Brooks, passed away on July 18, 2019 in Claremore, OK. Roy was born on August 29, 1940 in New Castle, TX to Jess and Vearlene (Averett) Brooks.

Roy attended schools in Texas as well as Oklahoma. He later joined and served proudly in the United States Air Force where he was an air traffic controller. Roy worked many years for American Airlines with his A&P license as an NDT Inspector which was a very technical and highly rated job. He was of Baptist faith and would worship at Big Cabin Baptist Church until his health wouldn't permit. He was a deacon for years at Catoosa Baptist Church and then at Big Cabin. Roy enjoyed working with scrap metal, wood working and sometimes making cabinets. He enjoyed helping Donna with the Day Lily Garden business at Big Cabin. Roy also earned his pilot's license and loved to fly. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Delta 425 out of Tulsa, OK. Roy will be missed by all who knew him and loved him.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Jess Brooks and later Vearlene (Averett) Diggers, son Richard Brooks; daughter in law Sherrie Brooks; sisters Helen Viola, Janet Dempsey and Lois Carr.

Roy is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Donna of the home; daughter Patti Pearsall and husband David of Broken Arrow, OK; brother Walter Brooks of Odessa, TX along with many other friends and loved ones.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday July 23, 2019 at Big Cabin Baptist Church at 11:00 am, with Pastor Shane Culp officiating. Roy will be laid to rest at Big Cabin Cemetery in Big Cabin, OK immediately following the funeral service.
