Roy Butcher

Roy Lee Butcher, 81 year old Vinita resident, passed away February 16, 2009, at Craig General Hospital. Roy was born November 24, 1927 at Todd District, Craig County, Oklahoma to Irving Butcher & Mattie Emaline (Tyner) Butcher. He married Geraldine Willis on November 12, 1950 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was a charter member of the Craig County Baptist Church of Vinita. Roy and Dean are the founders of Butcher Pump Company in 1975. They continued to operate the company until their retirement in 2000. He had previously worked for C&L Supply for a number of years. He is survived by his children Jimmy Lee Butcher and Wife Clara of Vinita, Barbara Jean Rider and Husband Rick of Ramona, Okla. & Steven Wayne Butcher and Wife Paula Lynn of Vinita. He is also survived by one sister Colleen and husband Jay Doerflinger of Vinita, two sisters in law Pansy Butcher of Vinita, and Naomi Butcher of Sunny vale, Calif. Six grandchildren Michelle (Butcher) Kelso & Husband Greg of Owasso, Scott Butcher of Tulsa, Justin Rider & Amber of Ramona, Michael Butcher & Wife Julie of Chelsea, Jered Rider & Elaine of Bartlesville, & Daniel Butcher of Vinita. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren & 5 step-great grandchildren sisters in law, Ruby King and husband Ken of Texarkana, TX, Margie Chandler Kirkpatrick and husband Dwight of Grove, OK, Margaret Ann McSorley and husband Dave of Sidney, Iowa and Martha Ann Liou and husband Kent Knapper of Sparks, Nevada, a brother in law, Chuck Willis and wife Charlotte of Washington , OK. There are many Nieces, Nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine on November 9, 2008, his parents, 4 brothers & 2 sisters in law, Lewis Butcher, Benjamin & Dorothy Butcher, John & Lucille Butcher, Bob Butcher, brother in law & sister in law Betty & Bud Osborn. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Vinita Friday February 20, 2009 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Claud Strong officiating with Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 a. m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday with family receiving friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening.
