Roy Tanner

Roy Junior Tanner, 78 year old Grove, OK resident, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2020.  Roy was born in McDonald County, MO on April 5, 1941 to Jesse James Kirk and Clara (Mattingly) Kirk.  Early in his career he worked as a house finisher.  He then drove a truck for Wal-Mart for numerous years before retiring.  Roy was quite the jokester and loved playing pranks on people.  In his younger years, he was an excellent skater and bowler; he even scored a perfect game once. He also enjoyed fishing, playing softball, cooking out, baking pies, going to auctions and flea markets, and gardening.  Roy could can green beans from his garden like no other.  He was also a Mr. Fix-It.  It might not have been fixed correctly, but it would be fixed.  Lastly, Roy loved his family, his dogs Pete and Lil Man, and his turkey Tom.

Survivors include his daughters: Tempie Flanders and husband Ralph of Grove, OK, Kim Brock and husband Randy of Grove, OK, Saundra Reece of Colcord, OK, Becky Brock of Siloam Springs, AR, and Megan Conn and husband Clay of Siloam Springs, AR, one brother Herman Tanner of Anderson, MO and one sister Wilma Jean Smith of Joplin, MO, as well as 17 grandchildren: Blair Richie-Del Cid, Brooke Pineiro, Beth Justiniano, Chloe Flanders, Natasha Reece, Kendra Grissom, April Deal, Teddy Reece, Nicole Tillary, Daniel Reece, Brandy Kindle, Wayne Kindle, Alexander Tanner, Zac Dunlap, Seth Dunlap, Gabe Dunlap, and Mia Conn, and 32 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his siblings: Lena, Geraldine, Glesner, Wilma Jean, Orville, Betty, Lloyd, Leon, and Thelma.
