Ruby O'Dell

ARNOLD MOORE & NEEKAMP FUNERAL HOME, BARTLESVILLE, OK (918) 336-5225 - Ruby Irma O'Dell, age 91 and long-time resident of Ramona, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at her home. Ruby Irma White was born on January 28, 1926 in Longton, Elk Co., Kansas. She was the daughter of Joseph Francis White and Nellie Jane (Hanks) White. The family moved around a lot but always lived in the State of Kansas. After Ruby finished school, she worked several places including the hotel, private homes and the glass factory all in Caney, Kansas. From 1951-1957, Ruby was employed with Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville in the maintenance department as a housekeeper. In 1955, she moved to Ramona. Her next employment was with Jane Phillips Hospital where she was employed for the next 32 years, retiring in 1989. On May 15, 1965, Ruby and Clarence Thomas "Bud" O'Dell were married in Bud's home in rural Ramona and they established their home there. After 30 years of marriage, on February 5, 1995, he preceded her in death. Ruby was a long-time (active for most of those years) member of Happy Hill Church (60+ years). She helped support the church sponsored school in Old Mexico. She also went on a mission trip to help those less fortunate in Guatemala. Ruby is survived by one brother, Herbert Ben White of Polo, Missouri; two children, Tobe O'Dell of Bartlesville and Carolyn Killough of Albuquerque, New Mexico; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence Thomas "Bud" O'Dell; five brothers; one sister; and three children, Jessie Hodge, Bob and Buddy O'Dell. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ruby's name can be made to Happy Hill Church Memorial Fund, 399758 W, 3100 Rd., Ramona, OK 74061. Come and go visitation will be held on Thursday and Friday from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave. Family will be present to greet friends on Friday from 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 2, at 2:00 PM in the Happy Hill Church, Ramona, Oklahoma. Pastor Jack Richie will be the officiant. Interment will follow in the Ramona Cemetery beside her husband, Bud. Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.
