Sherry Yvonne Parris, 72, of Nowata, passed away at her home Saturday, December 19, 2020. Born in Nowata County December 21, 1947 to Claude Pleasant and Betty Jo (Inman) Wickliffe, Sherry remained a lifelong resident of Nowata, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of Nowata High School and continued her education at Tulsa Technology Center. On June 17, 1967 she married Don Parris at Hillside Christian Church in Nowata, Oklahoma and they have since shared decades worth of memories together. Sherry was a very involved and dedicated member of Hillside Christian Church and further shared her faith by teaching Sunday School. Aside from her devotion to the Church and her Church family, Sherry enjoyed traveling to new places, camping, and riding four wheelers. Most of all, Sherry loved being with her family. She delighted in caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren. Her family held a very special place in her heart and Sherry will undoubtedly be missed by all who knew her.
Sherry is preceded in death by her parents, Claude Wickliffe and Betty (Wickliffe) Briggs; a son, Claude Wayne Parris; and a brother-in-law, Wayne Parris.
She is survived by her husband, Don Parris of the home; son, Kyle and his wife Tara Parris of Lee’s Summit Missouri; daughter Christy Evans of Dewey Oklahoma; grandchildren, Dylan Parris, Avery Parris, Carter Parris, Wyatt Due; siblings, Gaynell Barnes, Wickie Wickliffe, Ann Morrison, Monty Wickliffe; sisters-in-law, Martha Lou Jackson, Rita Parris; many other relatives and a host of friends.
Memorial services for Sherry Parris will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Hillside Christian Church in Nowata with pastor Van Longbon officiating. Services arranged by Benjamin Funeral Service of Nowata. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations to the Nowata EMS.
Pastor Longbon informed Benjamin if anyone would like to sit in there car through the service and listen to it on the radio channel 87.9 they are more than welcome.
