Shirley Campbell

March 15, 1935 — September 23, 2010

Funeral services for Shirley Ann Campbell, 75, of Nowata are at 3:00 p.m. Monday September 27th at the Trinity Full Gospel Church in Nowata, with Rev. James Rowton officiating. Interment will follow in the Nowata Relocated Cemetery under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Services. Shirley was born on March 15, 1935 to Claude and Elva Fields in Nowata, Oklahoma. She grew up in Nowata and later moved to Kansas City. While visiting grandparents in Nowata, Shirley met Paul Jonathan Campbell. "That's the man I'm going to marry," she proclaimed after meeting him. Shirley and Paul were born a year apart and lived only a house away from each other and were brought into the world by the same midwife. They were married on July 31st, 1954 in Nowata and left that day for Harlingen, Texas. They lived the Air Force lifestyle and moved frequently. She was always active in church by playing the organ or piano, singing, and teaching. Taking care of her family was her calling and purpose. Paul and Shirley moved back to Nowata in December 1971 and bought their last home in June 1972. In November of 2007 Shirley lost her husband of 54 years. She attended Trinity Full Gospel Church and enjoyed serving as the Pastor's wife until he died. She continued to care for and support her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren until her death. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Campbell, her father Claude Fields, her step-father and mother Hallie B. and Elva Thomas, her father- and mother-in-law, Rev. F.M. and Viola Campbell, and her brother Bob Fields. She is survived by her children Connie Wilson, and her husband John, of Nowata, Steven Campbell, of San Francisco, California, Vicki Owens, and husband Jerry, of Springfield, Missouri, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and other relatives as well as a host of friends. Donations may be made to the Trinity Full Gospel Church of Nowata.
