Sylvia Russell

Sylvia Lannette Russell, 73 year old Claremore resident, formerly of Vinita, died Saturday, March 30, 2013 at the Claremore Regional Hospital. She was born August 6, 1939 in Hutchison, Kansas to Cornelius J. and Helen Beatrice (Pfaffly) Reimer. Sylvia attended school and graduated from Chetopa, Kansas High School. She attended college at Pittsburg State and N.E.O. A&M College in Miami. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Sylvia worked for GRDA as a secretary for Jack Rorschach, later she worked as department manager of customer service for Wal-mart in Vinita for 17 years until she retired in August 2001. Sylvia had moved to Claremore about 10 years ago from Vinita. She enjoyed going to garage sales, sewing, crocheting and doing crafts. The family includes: her two sons, Neil E. Russell and wife Joetta of Catoosa, Edward R. Russell and wife Janece of Pryor; brothers, James Reimer and wife Joann of Victorville, California, Calvin Reimer and wife Shirley of Arlington, Texas; a sister Patty Hittson of Afton; grandchildren, Trisha Russell, Jonnathan Russell, Zack Russell, Hayleigh Russell, Racheal Welker, Tyler Welker, Larry Lee, Amanda Russell, Denton Russell, Karissa Young, Misty Russell, Chad Young; eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Errol Reimer and his wife Eva Jane Reimer. Honorary bearers will be, Emily Chew, Zack Russell, Tyler Welker, Jonnathan Russell, Larry Lee, and Denton Russell. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the Luginbuel Chapel in Vinita, with Rev. Sonja Tobey officiating. Interment will be on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Rosedale Cemetery near Wathena, Kansas. Online condolences may be made at www.honoringmemories.com.
