Sylvia Elaine Shipley, 75, of Nowata, died Monday, June 29, 2020 at Jane Phillips Hospital in Bartlesville. She was born November 22, 1944 in Nowata to Art and Virginia (York) Froelich. She attended and graduated from Alluwe High School in 1962. On October 5, 1963 she married Walter Franklin “Walt” Shipley. Sylvia was a self-employed hairdresser in Nowata for many years. She made many friends and was a “down home country girl”. She enjoyed sewing, making doll clothes and doing crafts. She made many wreaths and pottery people which were her family’s favorites. Sylvia loved her gardens and flowers and providing food by canning her vegetables. She also liked to go dancing and listen to music with her friend Woody Walker. Sylvia was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed by all.

Preceding Sylvia Shipley in death are her parents Art and Virginia Froelich, husband Walt Shipley, and a son Jerry Shipley.

Survivors include a son, Mike Shipley and Wife Shellie; grandchildren Marissa Shipley, and Casey Kunze; siblings Richard Froelich of Nowata, and Pat Woldridge and husband Ron, of Claremore; many other relatives and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside services for Sylvia Shipley will by held 3 p.m., Thursday, July 2, 2020 at Martin Cemetery near Childers, Oklahoma. Services are entrusted to Benjamin Funeral service of Nowata. Online condolences may be left at www.honoringmemories.com
