Terry Hindman Sr

October 21, 1939 — January 11, 2023

Nowata

Terry Nathan Hindman Sr, 83, passed from this life into eternal rest on January 11, 2023, at the Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

He was born October 21, 1939, to Oscar Edward and Juanita Pauline (Adams) Hindman in Fairfax, Oklahoma. He received his education from Diamond Point Independent School District in rural Nowata County.  On January 4, 1957, he married the love of his life, Betty Louise Alexander. Terry and Betty made their home in Nowata and raised five children on a farm near the Diamond Point One Room School.

Terry loved the Lord even through his illness, as he praised Him until his final breath. He was a deacon at the Nowata First Baptist Church for 56 years and served on numerous committees involving the Church. He was also well known as a greeter at the doors as people arrived for Sunday morning church services. Terry was very instrumental in planning and organizing the new building being built for the First Baptist Church in Nowata in 1983.

Anyone who knew Terry knew he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He clearly preferred spending his time outdoors camping, hunting, and fishing. He would sometimes take the boys fishing and not return home for several days.

Terry left home as a young teen and worked in the pipeline and construction business.  He was well known as an excellent carpenter and ultimately had his own construction company with his son, Bobby. Terry was always an extremely hard worker, which was necessary due to having a wife and five children before he turned 20 years of age. He loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish the memory of a wonderful man include his two siblings; Tom Hindman of Oglesby, OK and Louise (Hindman) Camren and husband, Virgil of South Coffeyville, OK, his three sons; Ronnie Hindman and wife, Amy of Ochelata, OK, Bill Hindman and Tommy Woods of Edmond, OK, Terry Hindman Jr. of Nowata, OK,19 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild on the way, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

Terry is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Hindman, his parents; Oscar Edward Hindman and Juanita Pauline (Adams) Hindman; 12 siblings; two children: Bobby Hindman and Diana (Hindman) LaBarr, and two grandchildren; Tristan Noah Tiry and Luke LaBarr.
