Thomas Barnes

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK 918-786-2261. Thomas Lee Barnes Sr., 67, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2016 in Joplin, Missouri. Tom was born on January 7, 1949 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. He was the son of Milton Barnes and Irene Mae (Scott) Barnes. Tom owned and operated a trucking company. Tom enjoyed playing country music but his passion was softball. Tom was a Fast-pitch Softball National Champion Pitcher; he coached Girls Softball in Grove during their summer leagues, and assisted the Grove High School team when they won the High School State Championship. Tom was an avid sports enthusiast; whether it was watching football, playing a round of golf or just spending time on the lake. He was always ready to sit back and watch his favorite western shows. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Milton and Irene Barnes, and one son Thomas "Hulk" Barnes, Jr., his brother Ivan Ray Barnes and sister Wylena Barnes. He leaves behind his wife Teresa Barnes of the home, his four daughters Celena LeAnn Shrout of Eufala, OK, Regina Burks and her husband Matt, of Tulsa, OK, Layne Golden of Grove, OK, and Tamika Harrel and husband Stephen of Coffeyville, KS, two brothers, Willard Barnes and his wife Carol of Watts, OK, and Henry Barnes and his wife Tina, two sisters Eva Handle and husband Bill and Delores Jackson all of Jay, OK. Tom was blessed with eight grandchildren; Matthew Barnes, T.J. Lemonds, Daniel Howard, Karissa Bauer, Ariel Shrout, Jeffrey Mansker, Cameron Golden and Titus Harrel, two great-grandchildren Aiden Bauer and Daisy Jones. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2-4PM, Sunday, June 19, 2106, at Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove, OK. Services will be held at 2PM, Monday, June 20, 2016 at Grove's First Baptist Church with Reverend Mark Landreth officiating.
