Velessia Lynch-Peace-Ramsey

March 13, 1960 — July 2, 2011

Valessia Michelle, beloved daughter of the late Lyle (Preacher) Lynch and the late Loretta Pettie Lynch, was born March 13, 1960, and reared in Nowata, Oklahoma, a community that she truly loved. She received formal education in the Nowata Public School District and was a graduate of the Nowata High School Class of ‘78. Lisa, as she was affectionately called, was involved in an extended relationship with Darryl Ingram. As a result, they were blessed with two beautiful girls, Toria Lanette & DaShae (deceased). Shortly after graduation, Lisa became employed by Dr. Gary Gibson's Chiropractic office and later worked for many years at the Hays House facility in Nowata, OK. Lisa later married Robert Lee Peace, Sr., and to this union two wonderful children, Robert Lee (JR) (deceased) and Brittney Nicole, were born. On September 4, 2010 Lisa married her love, her best friend, her soulmate, Roderick Bryon Ramsey. With this blessed blended union, came two valiant and vivacious children, Monty Ray & Matthew Ramsey. Lisa dedicated her life to being a faithful wife, mother, and servant of the Lord in the church and community. She served in several capacities on the local and district levels within the church. Lisa accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She is a lifelong member of the Nowata First Baptist Church on North Willow Street where she served as the First Vice-President of the Women's Missionary Union and sang in the church choir. Lisa LOVED serving God's people and her gift & calling was always helping those in need. Her passion was in exemplifying God's Word, not just as a faithful hearer, but as an obedient doer by following the commands of God "to love thy neighbor as thyself". LISA SIMPLY LIVED HER LIFE LIKE IT WAS GOLDEN!!! Her friends were not "just friends" they were family. In addition, although she had children of her own, there were so many adopted sons & daughters that she claimed and tenderly treasured. She cherished her family, both blood and newly acquired through marriage, as they were both etched deeply in her heart. Even though faced with numerous heartbreaks, Lisa was the "Rock of Gibraltar" for her brother Nicky, her children & extended family & this community as a whole. Lisa taught all of us how to persevere and not lose focus on the God of our salvation. The more the enemy threw at her, the closer she became to the Lord. What a testimony!!! Therefore, Lisa was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and helpful friend to everyone. She was passionately known for her genuine smile, laughter, positive attitude, and untiring helpfulness to many, particularly the downtrodden, elderly, sick & the shut-in. In addition to her parents & children, JR & DaShae, Lisa was preceded in death by her grandparents - Tillman & Etta (Mayhew) Lynch; her brother - Jerome "Pettiebone" Pettie; her sister - Rhonda Lynch Hill; and her niece - Sabrina Pettie. Left to forever cherish her memory is her loving husband, Roderick; her beautiful daughters - Toria Lanette Lynch (Chris) of Tulsa, OK & Brittney Nicole Peace of Jacksonville, TX; her loving stepsons - Monty Ray & Matthew Ramsey of Nowata, OK; her wonderful grandsons - Sedric "Scooter" Fulcher, Jr. & Christopher "Chubbs" Davis of Tulsa OK; her lovely granddaughters - Kennedy "Ken-Ken" Downing & Aaliyah "LiLi" Peace; her courageous brothers - Lyle & Joe Lynch of Denver, CO; Nickolas "Nicky" Lynch (Lynn) of Nowata, OK; her adoring sisters - Marilynn Smith of Denver, CO & Terry Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO; her aunts & uncles - Joyce Seanior of Nowata, OK; Florence Rex Stroud (Homer) of Tulsa, OK; Melva Hill (David) of Nowata, OK; Margie Nickolson of Rock Island, IL; and Hestus Pettie of Nowata, OK; her mother-in-law - Francis Ramsey of Vinita, OK; and a host of brothers- & sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, a loving church family and a community of friends and loved ones, near & far, who will miss her earthly presence dearly.
