Velma Buchanan

Luginbuel Funeral Home Vinita, 918-256-5555, Velma Lucille Buchanan passed away Friday December 21,2018 in Vinita Oklahoma. She was born November 11, 1930 in Miami, Texas; the daughter of John Matthews Schalis and Lucille "Casity" Schalis.
Velma was a graduate of Pawnee High School; Velma married Vernon Buchanan and had 30 wonderful years together. She enjoyed working at Vinita Finance for Greg Pitcher and attended the First United Methodist Church of Vinita. She was a Shriner's wife, Eastern State Hospital volunteer and also enjoyed remodeling houses. Velma also enjoyed traveling and caring for kids. Velma was a loving wife mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her
Mrs. Buchanan was preceded by her mother, father, husband Vernon Buchanan and son Mark Buchanan.
Mrs. Buchanan is survived by three sons Mike Riley of Claremore, Steve Riley and wife Lynn of Owasso, Greg Buchanan and wife Margie of Tulsa and daughter-in-law Janet Buchanan of Vinita. One brother Wesley Schalis and wife Retha of Pawnee. Her six grandchildren John Riley, Melissa Gaither, Sara Jane Nadarajah, Melissa Buchanan, Ashley Buchanan, Seven grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Services for Velma Lucille Buchanan will be Saturday December 29, 2018 Carselowey Cemetery at 10:00 am With Pastor Skip McClain officiating.
