Benjamin Funeral Service Nowata, OK..........................Funeral services for Big Cabin resident, Vernon Clay Ross, 74, will be held 2:00P.M., at the First Baptist Church, Talala, Oklahoma, Monday, August 6, 2007, with Rev. Dennis Gunderson officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Talala. Services are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Home, of Nowata. Vernon Clay Ross was born November 3, 1934, in Ramona, Oklahoma, to Henry Earl and Iona Myrtle (Jacobs) Ross. He passed from the life August 2, 2007 at St. Johns Medical Center, in Tulsa, after reaching 74 years, 8 months, and 29 days. He attended and graduated from Talala Schools, and on December 10, 1955 he married Lena Barnes, in Winganon. Of this union four children, Millie, Gary, Michael, and Lisa were born. Mr. Ross worked for B.F. Goodrich until his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and peaceful strolls through the woods. He and Lena loved to sit together enjoying the quiet evenings watching the cattle. His family was first in his heart. He put them before anything else in his life. He was truly a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be missed by all who knew him. Preceding Mr. Ross in death are his parents; a brother Dewey Ross, and a sister Jeannette Ellen Rott. Surviving are his loving wife Lena, of the home in Big Cabin; children, Millie Ross Pinkston, and husband Jim, of Chelsea, Gary Ross, and wife Lamoyne, of Claremore, Michael Ross, and wife Glenda, of Chelsea, Lisa Ross West, and husband Boyd, of Oologah; grandchildren, Lori Ann Atchley, Jeff Pinkston, Brandy Kenyon, Jennifer Ross, Chris Ross, Nathan Ross, Sidney West, Koby West, Christi Heiney, Danny Hefner; great grandchildren, Todd Atchley, Emily Atchley, Michele Kenyon, Bobby Heiney, Sara Heiney, Morgan Heiney, Stephen Heiney; siblings, John Earl Ross, of Oologah, Joe Henry Ross, of Huntington Beach, California, Connie Rose Buster, of Sulpher, Louisiana, Beverly Ann Morris of Ripley, Oklahoma; many other relatives and a host of friends.
