Walter Loy

Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Jay, Oklahoma 918-253-3222. Walter A. Loy, Jr., 81, passed way on November 28, 2015 surrounded by his family at his residence in Jay, Oklahoma. Walter was born on May 17, 1934 in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was the son of Walter A. Sr., and Mary (Cochran) Loy. He proudly served in the United States Marines. Walter was married to the love of his life, Nancy Garrett, on August 19, 1953. Walter was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jay, Oklahoma and was baptized years ago by his grandfather, Reverend B.C. Cochran. Walter was the owner/operator of Walt's Carpets, doing business for over 39 years in the Grand Lake area. Walter was also a master woodworker and carpenter, an avid outdoorsman, an award winning boxing coach, and the founder of the "Jay Boxing Club". Walter loved his family dearly; his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his world. Walt loved taking his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren on "wooded safaris". Walter always strived to get the best out of everyone. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, one son Walter Loy III, and one brother John Loy. He is survived by his wife Nancy Loy of the home, two sons; Matthew Loy and wife Annie of Salina, OK, Cleve Loy and his wife Cindy of Jay, OK, two daughters; Terri Shiery and her husband Ron of Springdale, AR, and Sharon Raney and her husband Kenny of Jay, OK. He is also survived by two sisters Betty Patrone of North Charleston, SC, and Carolyn Baca of Lakewood, CO. Walter was blessed with eleven grandchildren; Amanda, Angela, Ross, Lora, Jamie, T.J., Jordyn, Taylor, Garrett, Grant and Gage and eight great grandchildren; Addison, Lilia, Ella, Hunter, Remington, Ruben, Corben and Peanut. He will be greatly missed by his two pets Chloe and Stinky. Private family services will be held at a later date.
